Why Did Jesus Really Come?…Part 1, by Papa Boyd Dennis

For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil….1 John 3:8b.

Sometimes we fail to remind ourselves of fundamental truths upon which our faith is to be formed, so I thought it might be a good time to review the fundamental truths of “Why Jesus ‘Really’ Came Into The Earth”. We have spent much time talking about God’s purposes for our personal lives, but have we ever really understood the real purposes that determined “why” Jesus was born into the earth, and what explains everything that followed unto His resurrection from the dead.

I think that it is important for us to look beyond the forgiveness of sin, and the saving of the lost to see some of the magnificent realities of what the Jesus actually accomplished on behalf of fallen mankind. Until the Lord reveals these “truths” to us and invites us to participate in all that He has accomplished on our behalf, we will find our lives lacking, simply because we never had an opportunity to be responsive to the fullness of His grace towards us and the completeness of His salvation for us.
Although the forgiveness of sin was absolutely essential to the saving of mankind from the destiny sin had set before us, forgiveness is really only a “door” through which we enter into the vastness of what Jesus really accomplished on behalf of His Father (first) and those that the Father so dearly loves….So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep…If anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture…John 10:7, 9.

We will find that there is much that is of great value to us on the other side of the door and that as we walk from revelation to revelation we will discover what really was the ultimate purpose for which Jesus came…and that would simply be…. “That He came to restore man to the original intention or purpose for which God created man, and for that man to live in an intimate relationship with his Creator God; To be completely dependent upon him for everything he had need of; and to be led by His spirit unto the fulfillment of his God given purpose, representing the reality of God as He really IS in the midst of all human needs.”
