Impossibilities Are Only Signals…By Graham Cooke
“It’s impossible! It can’t be done!” How often does our lack of imagination or faith cause us to make the impossible become our truth of convenience? We take the line of least resistance when we give up without really trying. That’s how the impossible becomes merely the untried. When we use logic instead of faith, the impossible becomes our language of defeat. We forget that we are in Christ and we start to defect to the mindset of man rather than the perspective of God. When we say that something is “out of the question,” we deny ourselves the relational dialogue that could prove the opposite. When we mark something as unachievable we forget that Christ in us is the reality of God’s ability to produce after His kind. We make unattainable what is beyond our ability to see in the natural realm. We become earthbound in our focus when we disconnect from the Kingdom of Heaven where all things are a possibility.
What is impossible for man is possible with God. In Christ, we are encouraged to explore a life beyond a logical thought process. “God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly beyond all that we could ask or even think, according to the power that works in us”…Ephesians 3:20. What is beyond thinking? Surely that would be imagination and dreaming? All the great technological break-throughs in history began with a dream breaking through the logical, impossible barrier. God allows in His wisdom what He could easily prevent by His power. If He allows an impossibility to connect with us, it is because He desires to unite us with the terms of His own capacity to create.
Impossibilities are only signals where our ability stops and His continues. In that place of tension, He reinforces our trust and enhances our desire to see a miracle.
Mark 9:23…“ All things are possible to him who believes.” It is vital then that we do not allow impossibilities to weaken our resolve to pursue astonishment. Amazement occurs when the natural laws of man are overturned by the sovereignty of God.
