Why Did Jesus Really Come?…Part 3, by Papa Boyd Dennis
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil….1 John 3:8b
In the previous bulletin I gave you a list of nine important reasons of “Why Jesus Really Came”. In this one we will take a look at reason #1…Jesus Came to Reveal, Interpret and Make God Known to Man. Hebrews 1:1-3…God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, Colossians 1:15 – He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation, John 1:18 – The only begotten Son who is in the bosom of the Father, in the place of intimacy, participation, vital union, first-hand knowledge and state of being….He has revealed Him! He has stepped out of the bosom of the Father and has brought Him into view! John 14:8-9 – Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
In each of the above scriptures we hear the affirmation of a fundamental reason for which Jesus came into the earth. When God created man, it was for the purpose of man knowing God as He really is; living in an intimate relationship with Him and representing Him or making Him known in the earth according to the reality of his personal experience with God that caused him to know God as He really IS.
As Jesus prayed just before He was to be crucified, He spoke the following words in John 17:4, 6… “I have glorified You on the earth…. “I have manifested Your name (I have made you known) to the men whom You gave Me out of the world; Remember, when you fix your eyes upon Jesus, you are seeing a true revelation of the Father Who is God.
